On March 6, the Pre-Law Center and the Office of Career Exploration and Development at СƬƵ hosted their annual Law School and Careers Exploration event in the Kent Student Center. The organizers said it was a huge success with over 70 students attending.
“It was well-attended by many pre-law students from across all academic disciplines who met with not only many law school admissions officers, but also with other legal employers who are very interested in hiring or offering internships to our students,” Political Science Professor Christopher Banks, J.D., Ph.D., director of the Pre-Law Center, said.

The organizers welcomed all current СƬƵ students interested in pursuing law school, regardless of their major, year, or level of interest. Participants had the opportunity to network with representatives from numerous law schools, including Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, University of Akron, University of Cincinnati, University of Illinois at Chicago, Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan), and Ohio Northern University. In addition, students engaged with legal professionals from organizations like the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office, the Marine Officer Program and Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and Guardian ad Litim, which are volunteer groups appointed by the court to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect.
“We are really excited about this event and grateful for all of the schools and organizations that participated,” Erin Franczak, Pre-Law academic program coordinator, said. “We’re also incredibly proud of the students who attended—asking insightful questions, dressing professionally and representing СƬƵ so well.”
At the event, representatives discussed topics such as admissions criteria, including LSAT scores and GPAs, as well as experiential opportunities, potential career outcomes and employment prospects.
“The law school career fair was a valuable experience that allowed me to make personal connections with law firms from around the area,” Sarah Jaberg, a junior criminology and justice studies major, said. “It was incredible to have one-on-one conversations with the recruiters and ask any questions I may have had about their law school. I highly recommend attending the next one.”
Franczak confirmed that the event will return to campus next spring, with the date to be announced.
