The Arabic minor introduces learners to Modern Standard Arabic and other dialects, histories, religions and cultures of Arab societies. Students develop linguistic and cultural competencies through an outcome-based curriculum. In accordance with their interests and career-, social- or academic- goals, students choose from the Arabic language and related courses from other disciplines such as political science, history, geography, business and translation studies.

Graduates of this program will be able to:

Admissions for Arabic - Minor

Admission Requirements

Admission to a minor is open to students declared in a bachelor’s degree, the A.A.B. or A.A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree (not Individualized Program major). Students declared only in the A.A. or A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree in Individualized Program may not declare a minor. Students may not pursue a minor and a major in the same discipline.

Students who place below the 30000 level for Arabic courses must take ARAB 21201 and ARAB 21202.

  • Minimum 6 credit hours in the minor must be upper-division coursework (30000 and 40000 level).
  • Minimum 6 credit hours in the minor must be outside of the course requirements for any major or other minor the student is pursuing.
  • Minimum 50 percent of the total credit hours for the minor must be taken at 小黄片视频 (in residence).

Program Notes

  • Students are strongly encouraged to participate in short-term, semester-long, or year-long study programs in an Arabic-speaking country. 
  • Some courses in the Department of Modern and Classical Language Studies are offered on a rotating basis. Students should meet with their faculty advisor for Arabic each term.
