Faculty Highlights

Jeffrey Hallam, Ph.D., FRSPH, professor of social and behavioral sciences and associate dean for research and global affairs of the 小黄片视频's College of Public Health, will join the Jewish National Fund-USA's (JNF-USA) 2022 Summer - June Faculty Fellowship Program.

Together with other 32 participants from universities and colleges across the U.S., Hallam will take part on a trip throughout Israel, meeting Israeli professors to develop collaborations and research projects, and to participate in co-authorship of articles and establishment of exchange programs between faculty and students. During the Faculty Fellowship Program in Israel, Hallam will also meet with professionals and experts involved in government, industry, education, media, and other sectors to understand the many facets of the country's national and international policies.

Deric Kenne, Ph.D., associate professor of health policy and management and interim director of the Center for Public Policy and Health, has been honored with the 2021-2022 Faculty Outstanding Research and Scholarship Award (ORSA) from 小黄片视频. Sponsored by the University Research Council and the Division of Research and Sponsored Programs, the ORSAs recognize the hard work and dedication of 小黄片视频鈥檚 exceptional researchers and scholars who have been with 小黄片视频 for more than 10 years.

"I鈥檓 grateful to be awarded the Outstanding Research and Scholarship Award and I鈥檓 especially grateful for all of the hardworking individuals, students included, who help support me and the work we do in the Center,鈥 says Kenne.

Bethany Lanese, Ph.D., assistant professor of health policy and management with the College of Public Health, received the Silver Award in Teaching Development by the 小黄片视频鈥檚 Center for Teaching and Learning. Lanese was recognized for the design and implementation of the Medicare/Medicaid learning module she developed for the graduate and undergraduate Health Care System courses.

Lanese created the interactive module about Medicare/Medicaid in Summer 2020, while participating in the 鈥業nnovation Intersession Flipping your Classroom鈥 through the Center for Teaching and Learning. The module was recognized as a best practice for instruction and awarded with the Bronze Award in Teaching Development in April 2021. After using it and implementing it throughout her Health Care System classes, in February 2022 Lanese received the Silver Award. The Silver Teaching Recognition Award recognizes instructors who implement and reflect on the results of their project.

"Many students struggle with the Medicare and Medicaid topics,鈥 explains Lanese. 鈥淭he updates to the module really seemed to help with student learning and really solidified the differences between these two programs,鈥 she adds.
