Biography
I research cultural and historical geography, focusing on the heritage of place, particularly as it becomes manifest through commemoration, place naming and sense of place. I recently co-edited book The Routledge Companion to the American Landscape with Alyson Greiner and Geoffrey Buckley. I have published chapters in the books Affective Architectures, Company Towns in the Americas, Social Memory and Heritage Tourism Methodologies, and Explorations in Place Attachment, and in the journals Acme, Geoforum, Area, Professional Geographer, Geographical Review, Journal of Cultural Geography, Journal of Geography, and Historical Geography.
