Patricia Smoot Wicks, event facilitator.

Patricia Smoot Wicks has over 25 years experience working to improve lives of youth and their families. Her passion for people and organizations realizing their full potential drove her to start her company in 2009. She serves as the CEO/Founder of Patricia Smoot Wicks Consulting LLC, PATHworks! and is currently the Interim Chief Executive Officer of Open M in Akron.

Tayjua Hines, she/her/hers. From Cleveland, OH a Pan-African Studies Major with a concentration in Community Activism, Strategy and Development. President of Black United Students with. the goal of opening a community center to educate the youth in the future. 

 

Nikki Marchmon-Boykin, event panelist

Nikki Marchmon-Boykin (she/her) is a native of Akron, Ohio, graduate of Akron Public Schools and 小黄片视频, Master Teacher in the Kent City School District and adjunct professor at 小黄片视频. As a social studies educator, Nikki鈥檚 expertise is infusing technology, current events and themes of political and socio-cultural empowerment into her American Government and Black Experience Courses

 

Dr. Roseann 鈥淐hic鈥� Canfora, event panelist

Dr. Roseann 鈥淐hic鈥� Canfora, she/her, 3 time graduate of 小黄片视频, currently serves as the Chief Communications Officer of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and as an Adjunct Professor of Journalism at 小黄片视频. An eye-witness and survivor of the historic 小黄片视频 shootings on May 4, 1970, Dr. Canfora remains a stalwart advocate for May 4 remembrance and the importance of connecting the lessons of the anti-war movement to emerging movements today, including Black Lives Matter and March for Our Lives.  

Lyric Aquino, event panelist

Lyric Aquino is a 小黄片视频 alumna with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. As a 2019 Native American Journalist Association Fellow, Lyric is devoted to telling the stories of people and their cultures - including her Indigenous community. Lyric will be attending NYU in the fall as a master鈥檚 candidate in their SHERP or Science, Health and Environmental Reporting Program.
