Graduation with Honors

There are three programs for Graduating with Honors:

Although each has minimum GPA requirements, the primary emphasis is on the successful completion of an undergraduate degree program including a Senior Honors Thesis or Project.

University Honors

Students complete 24 hours of honors coursework and an additional 6 hours of thesis work.  Students must successfully complete and defend a Senior Honors Thesis/Project.  To receive University Honors, a student must have a minimum 3.8 Cumulative GPA and have the thesis judged to be of outstanding quality.

General Honors

Students complete 24 hours of honors coursework and an additional 6 hours of thesis work.  Students must successfully complete and defend a Senior Honors Thesis/Project.  To receive General Honors, a student must have a minimum 3.5 Cumulative GPA and have the thesis judged to be of 鈥淎鈥 or 鈥淏鈥 quality.

Departmental Honors

Students complete 6 hours of thesis work.  Students must successfully complete and defend a Senior Honors Thesis/Project.  To receive Departmental Honors, a student must have a minimum 3.5 Cumulative GPA and have the thesis judged to be of 鈥淎鈥 or 鈥淏鈥 quality.

Honors College students who do not complete a Senior Honors Thesis/Project but who successfully fulfill all other Honors College academic requirements receive an Honors College Scholar notation on the final academic transcript.

Good Academic Standing

Members of the Honors Program must maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA to remain in good academic standing with the program.
