Before You Apply for CCP

Students seeking admission into the College Credit Plus program must demonstrate college readiness by meeting state remediation-free standards.

Admission Standards & Test Scores Needed

小黄片视频 Geauga and Twinsburg Academic Center determine college readiness by using Cumulative GPA, ACCUPLACER, ACT, or SAT scores.

To be accepted into the program, students should meet one of the following remediation-free standards:

  • If a student has a cumulative unweighted high school grade point average of at least 2.75 but less than 3.00, eligibility may be determined by ACT/SAT scores or through the Accuplacer exam (see above). A student may also be eligible if they have received "A" or "B" grades in three of four relevant high school courses (English, math, social studies, or science).
  • Middle school students must take the Accuplacer assessment to determine eligibility.
  • If the student has taken the Accuplacer, ACT or SAT, have your scores submitted to 小黄片视频 Geauga and Twinsburg Academic Center.
  • Students should have a CCP application on file before they take any placement testing with 小黄片视频 Geauga and Twinsburg Academic Center.

Register for ACCUPLACER Reading and WritePlacer庐 Testing

  • Students who wish to take courses in mathematics or take courses that have a mathematics prerequisite will also be required to complete the university鈥檚 ALEKS math placement assessment to determine college readiness in mathematics.
  • Foreign language placement assessments may be required for students wishing to take foreign language classes beyond Elementary I.

Questions to Ask Your School Counselor and Your Parents

Students interested in College Credit Plus (CCP) are encouraged to meet with their guidance counselor and family network to discuss the preparation and demands of college coursework. College-level courses are taught at an accelerated pace. There is a need for students to have self-responsibility, independence for learning, and the ability to think critically. Students and families need to consider travel to and from campus in addition to any extracurricular activities and other high school obligations.

It is important that you have a good understanding of your school district鈥檚 policies, as well as the policies of the college you choose to attend.

Are you Prepared for CCP?
  • Students should be responsible, independent, open-minded and mature with the ability to manage high-level, rigorous material at a fast pace.
Discuss CCP with Your Guidance Counselor
  • What classes do I still need in order to graduate from high school? What college courses can I take to fulfill these high school requirements?
  • How does my school define full-time enrollment? How many classes between the middle/high school and the college must I take to be eligible for sports?
  • How are College Credit Plus credits and grades applied to my middle/high school transcript? (i.e. weighted, not weighted, credit hours to Carnegie unit conversion) Do College Credit Plus courses taken above and beyond my high school graduation requirements factor into my high school grade point average?
  • For what reasons would I have to reimburse my school for the cost of my College Credit Plus courses?
  • What are my options for meeting my high school requirements if I fail a College Credit Plus course?
  • Do you believe I am ready for the academic and social challenges of college-level courses? What do you recommend as an appropriate number of college courses for me?
Discuss CCP with Your Parents
  • How will I get to and from campus, especially when the weather is bad?
  • Can I take classes earlier or later than normal school hours?
  • Will I be working or participating in extracurricular activities, and will I have time for the more rigorous demands of college-level courses?
  • Am I ready to accept the responsibility and independence that the college classroom demands? Will I participate actively in class and attend regularly?
  • Do I possess the social and emotional maturity necessary to engage in classes designed for and attended by adult students?
  • Am I comfortable with the 鈥渁cademic freedom鈥 granted to college professors to choose course materials, create their own grading scale, establish classroom policies, etc.?
  • Am I prepared to keep my family informed of my academic progress since the university will not do that for me?
  • Am I comfortable with the impact my College Credit Plus grades will have on my high school grade point average, future scholarship opportunities and college admission? Am I comfortable with the grades I earn as a College Credit Plus student being used to determine admission into selective or competitive majors?
  • How will I pay for failed or withdrawn classes?
  • If I am concerned about transferring College Credit Plus credits to another university, when should I contact or visit that university to discuss transfer?
  • Do I understand the college credit hours I earn now will be taken into consideration when determining my academic progress and eligibility for federal financial aid programs?
