The С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Golden Flashes football team (6-6) is bowling for the fourth time in school history, having accepted a bid to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl against Utah State (7-5, Mountain West).
The game will take place on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, with coverage on ESPN2. It will be the first bowl game for С»ÆƬÊÓƵ since the 2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl (2012 season). The Frisco Bowl joins the GoDaddy.com Bowl, Tangerine Bowl (1972) and the Refrigerator Bowl (1954) as the postseason berths in С»ÆƬÊÓƵ football history.
The Golden Flashes were the only Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) team to win their last three games to become bowl eligible. С»ÆƬÊÓƵ defeated Buffalo (30-27), Ball State (41-38) and Eastern Michigan (34-26) to improve to 6-6 on the season.
С»ÆƬÊÓƵ is one of eight teams with a four game or better turnaround from 2018, having improved from 2-10 to 6-6 in head coach Sean Lewis’ second season at the helm.
Utah State (7-5, 6-2) is led by quarterback Jordan Love. The junior has thrown for more than 3,000 yards and 17 touchdowns this season.
