Fashion School

Fashion School The academy is a one-week program, June 9-15 2024, that introduces high school students to key areas in fashion design and merchandising. The Summer Fashion Academy will allow creative, motivated teens to explore their passion for fashion in a pre-college, summer residence program.

The Summer Fashion Academy is for students who:

• Have completed their sophomore year of high school
• Are 16 to 18 years of age
• Are passionate about fashion
• Are interested in exploring careers in the $4 billion fashion industry

Space within the academy is limited to 30 participants and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration opens in Spring.

Kupita/Transiciones (Undergraduate Students)

Kupita/Transiciones (K/T) is a free program that includes a cultural orientation, transition experience, and year-long mentoring program for newly admitted and transfers African American, Latinx, Hispanic, Native American, and Multiracial students in mind. Spanning over the academic year, students will engage in activities to learn how to successfully navigate their college career by focusing on the cultural and social climate of С»ÆƬÊÓƵ.​​​​​​  All students are welcome to join.

As a result of participating in the Kupita/Transiciones (K/T) program, we hope students:

• Feel more connected to С»ÆƬÊÓƵ
• Establish their С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Familia
• Are affirmed in their cultural Identity
• Gain an appreciation for different cultures
• Identify opportunities for engagement at С»ÆƬÊÓƵ

After students participate in the cultural orientation and transition experience, students will continue into the K/T Mentoring Program. The K/T Mentoring Program offers students an opportunity to have their mentor from K/T provide continued assistance, guidance, and support throughout their entire freshman year.

Porthouse College Academy (Prospective BFA Students) 

The Porthouse College Academy is a musical theatre summer intensive program for high school graduates intending to enroll at С»ÆƬÊÓƵ’s School of Theatre and Dance as a theatre major. Participants may enroll in either the 3 or 6 credit hour program.

Art Enrichment for Youth grades K - 8

Classes offered Fall and Spring 

For eight weeks in our Art Enrichment classes, children grades  K - 8 will become art investigators to uncover their relationships with places, spaces, and objects.

By combining art studio activities with discussions of art as it relates to different time periods and cultures, students come to understand the world of art better. Students are organized by cross-age groupings and work with a variety of media to develop their individual artistic skills. Art Enrichment is a student-teacher education program at С»ÆƬÊÓƵ.

Example activities include drawing, painting (acrylic, tempera, watercolor), printmaking, clay, and 3D sculptural materials.

Porthouse College Academy

Porthouse Theatre, С»ÆƬÊÓƵ’s summer professional theatre located on the grounds of Blossom Music Center, will host its annual Porthouse Theatre College Academy during the summer of 2025.

The Academy is ideal for performance students looking to jump start their college career and further develop their musical theatre skills. Students who enroll elect to receive 3 or 6 credit hours toward their BA Theatre Studies or BFA Musical Theatre degree.

С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Intercollegiate Athletics Sports Camps provide opportunities for athletes of all ages to develop their skills in a fun, sportsmanlike environment. In addition to fundamental instruction, campers will be exposed to sport specific strategies and will have the chance to meet new people. Our goal as a Department is to offer sports camps that challenge athletes and promote individual improvement that will eventually lead to athletic success.

Summer STEM & Innovation Camps

Note: When registering, please use your child’s enrolling grade for 2024-25.
Cancellations must be submitted via email to continuinged@kent.edu within 5 business days prior to the camp start date to receive a refund.

All camps are hosted in the AT&T Classroom/Room 034 of Moulton Hall on the С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Campus. 

3D Digital Design for Augmented Reality and Printing  

Campers will use 3DSlash and Maker Empire to design 3D projects for printing and use CoSpaces and Merge Cubes to create augmented reality projects. Each camper will also print out one of their projects to take home.

LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential is LEGO’s learning platform for amplifying children’s understanding of concepts for science, technology, literacy, and math. Campers will engage in hands-on investigation of STEAM concepts as they build with LEGO® elements and program with the intuitive SPIKE™ App.

Exploring Robotics 

Campers will explore coding and computational thinking through hands-on experiences with a variety of programmable robots including mBots, Ozobot Evos, Edisons, and Sphero SPRK+.

Trio Upward Bound is seeking on-campus worksites for first generation prospective college students!

As a part of the Trio Upward Bound Program's commitment to delivering an employability skills curriculum to our participants, we offer our Career Connections Work Study Program. This program employs 11th and 12th-grade students on campus during the Summer Institute and connects them with career coaches to supervise and help develop relevant skills right in your office! This program thrives off of the support of the community, Upward Bound is seeking on-campus worksites to host first-generation prospective college students during the following dates and times.

Geology - Summer Field Camp (Undergraduate and Graduate Students)

Peak Summer Camp

The PEAK Summer Camp is designed for children 6 - 12 years of age and is part of the American Camp Association. Each session is facilitated by highly motivated and energetic students and professionals.

An additional offering to PEAK Summer Camp this year is swim lessons for those campers who request it. These lessons will be offered at no additional cost and will take place during your campers designated swim time. We plan to offer them 2-3 days per week, throughout all 9 weeks of camp!

Sports Camps (All Ages)

 provide opportunities for athletes of all ages to develop their skills in a fun, sportsmanlike environment. Upward Bound Students

Pre-College/TRIO Upward Bound programs include three federal TRIO Upward Bound programs that seek to increase educational opportunities and diminish barriers for first-generation, low income students and families through comprehensive services in targeted school districts. There are three Upward Bound programs at С»ÆƬÊÓƵ: Classic, Math Science, and Health Professions. TRIO programs help students overcome, class, social, academic and cultural barriers to higher education.
