School of Communication Studies Announces New Study Abroad Opportunity

Kent, OH – September 4, 2014 – The School of Communication Studies announces a new study abroad program for graduate students. is a study abroad initiative that fosters an international partnership between the School of Communication Studies and the prestigious Catholic University of Portugal in Lisbon, starting this fall.

During the two-year collaborative program, students will pursue a Master of Arts in Communication Studies at С»ÆƬÊÓƵ and spend a semester studying abroad in Portugal's capital. While in Lisbon, students engage in a dynamic range of courses taught in English by professors at Catholic University of Portugal and participate in activities associated with media globalization and cultural production with Portuguese graduate students.

"As one of only two such graduate exchange programs at С»ÆƬÊÓƵ, this cross-cultural cohort provides students a valuable intercultural communication experience and opportunities for collaborative work on an international scale,"according to Program Coordinator Mei-Chen Lin, Ph.D. "The Global Scholar Exchange program will help students launch their careers by building relationships and global connections with communication scholars and professionals."

Catholic University of Portugal hosts "Mastering Lisbon" events at the beginning of every intake, which includes a welcome reception, outdoor activities and sports activities to give students the opportunity to socialize with new colleagues, professors and staff and get into the school's spirit!

The School of Human Sciences at Catholic University of Portugal houses the Master of Arts in Communication Science program, which is among the most prestigious in Portugal. The Research Center for Communication and Culture (CECC) at the Catholic University of Portugal received the top rank of "Excellent" by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.

The School of Communication Studies grants master's degrees in global, health, interpersonal, and mediated and mass communication and participates in a college-wide doctoral degree program. The school is nationally recognized for its scholarship, and its students have received national recognition for their academic and professional accomplishments.
