How Protests Have Changed in the Past 60 Years

小黄片视频 Assistant Professor Speaks with WKYC on How Protests Have Changed in the Past 60 Years

The Black Lives Matter movement has illustrated what a modern protest looks like in the world of technology and social media.

Sara Koopman, Ph.D., assistant professor of 小黄片视频鈥檚 School of Peace and Conflict Studies, spoke on WKYC's We the People about how modern technology has changed how protests are organized compared to how they were in the 50鈥檚 and 60鈥檚 civil rights movements.

鈥淧eople don鈥檛 need big charismatic leaders in the same way, organizing pops up all over the place,鈥 Koopman said. 鈥淎nyone can start their own Black Lives Matter protest...It鈥檚 more horizontal and networked instead of top-down, centrally coordinated, pyramid structure we saw in the 60鈥檚.鈥
