Services

Safety Assistants & Escorts

The Safety Assistants program is composed of approximately 65 trained students employed by University Housing. Security assistants are responsible for patrolling the residence halls and providing campus escorts. Escorts are available throughout the campus when Safety Assistants are on duty.

Sexual Assault & Relationship Violence Support Resources

The Office of Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services was established to educate students about personal safety and violence prevention, to empower them to build healthier relationships and to be responsive to students in need. The SRVSS office offers resources and education for personal safety, sexual assault and rape, relationship violence and stalking.

Step Up Speak Out

Step Up and Speak Out provides greater awareness of mental health concerns, including risk factors for suicide. This suicide prevention campaign represents a collaborative effort of С��Ƭ��Ƶ Counseling and Psychological Services, University Health Services, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Police Services and aims to support individuals in need by educating university community members on protocols and resources designed to assist in disruptive situations or with distressed individuals.

Be an Active Bystander

Sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking impact many people on college campuses. Nationally, it’s estimated that one in five women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetimes and that they are most vulnerable between the ages of 16 and 24. College aged women and men also experience relationship abuse at high rates. As an friend or peer, you may wonder what you can do to help.

Active bystanders learn how to recognize and safely intervene in potentially dangerous situations.

Police Department

С��Ƭ��Ƶ is kept safe by an award-winning police department comprised of of both sworn law enforcement officers and civilian support staff to include twenty-one patrol officers, three detectives, two K9 officers, Auxiliary Service Officers, administrative personnel, IT specialists, and a fully-staffed, multi-jurisdictional communications center.

Fire Prevention

The Fire Prevention Office strives to be the strongest link between all departments within С��Ƭ��Ƶ by promoting fire safety. Through a coordinated effort with the City of Kent Fire Department, the Fire Prevention office enforces all required codes and standards to ensure the safety of individuals associated with the university community.

Emergency Management

Emergency Management Services works closely with the academic community to prepare for, or mitigate, vulnerabilities to hazards or disasters that may affect the University. By conducting training exercises, routine drills and equipment tests throughout the year, the division is better able to deal with the unforeseen challenges inherent in an actual emergency.

С��Ƭ��Ƶ has security officers on every campus. Security officers patrol their campus, provide, observe and report services, in addition to helping with emergency management planning.
