The Division of Enrollment Management together with the Division of Finance and Administration developed a new process to decrease the number of students subject to schedule cancellation due to non-payment.
What changed?
For Fall 2023, only students with a prior semester balance of $200 or more will be subject to schedule cancellation. Previously, students with a balance of $1500 or more were subject to schedule cancellation.
Fall 2023 examples:
- Student owes $1500 for the Fall 2023 and $0 for Summer 2023 or prior. They will not be canceled.
- Student owes $300 for Summer 2023 and $500 for Fall 2023. They will be canceled due to the $300 balance for Summer.
This initiative is part of an overall Strategic Enrollment Management Plan. It will assist with retention and remove obstacles for students and their families who need additional time to secure funding to cover their semester balance.
To avoid schedule cancellation, students must pay their prior semester balance in full or have enough aid to cover their Fall 2023 semester balance plus their prior semester balance. Students must contact the One Stop for Student Services or their Regional Campus enrollment services office for assistance with addressing their prior semester balance and avoiding schedule cancellation.
As in the past, registration holds will be assessed and placed on student accounts with balances of $200 or more for Fall after the start of the semester.

We will continue to support students with an outstanding semester balance as our teams have created a robust communication plan that will reach students throughout the entire semester. This allows us to provide reminders, resources and counseling regarding payment options.
