Nurse Educator Clinical Rotation Description

Nursing Education Practicum (NURS 60592)

Course Description: Prepares students with practical experiences in curriculum design, implementation, evaluation, and instruction with a master educator in the academic and or staff development setting.

Course Objectives:

The purpose of the practicum is to provide graduate students a capstone experience in the role of a nurse educator. At the conclusion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Apply concepts of curriculum development, evaluation, and testing in nursing education.
  2. Perform in the role of nurse educator in selected nursing education settings.
  3. Demonstrate integration of practice, theory, and research in nursing education situations.
  4. Integrate the responsibilities of a nurse educator to self, learner, organization, and profession.

Ideal Clinical Practice Site (180 hours [12 hours per week over 15 weeks]):

Practicum experiences are dependent on your area of interest related to the role of the nurse educator. This may be in an academic or staff development setting. The process of planning your practicum experience in collaboration with course faculty will begin in mid-February of the semester prior to your scheduled practicum course rotation.
