In 2006, Betty Sutton became the first С»ÆƬÊÓƵ alumna to serve in the U.S. Congress, when she was elected to represent Ohio’s 13th District in the House of Representatives. Sixteen years later, С»ÆƬÊÓƵ alumna Emilia Sykes, a native of Akron, Ohio, was elected to represent the same district, making her the first Black С»ÆƬÊÓƵ alum to serve in the House of Representatives.
