A student gets help at the Academic Success Center from tutor Khadija Al-Habsy

The first priority of С»ÆƬÊÓƵ’s strategic roadmap is to ensure that students have the education, experiences and support they need to graduate and to live successful, satisfying lives in their work and in their commitment to become engaged citizens. The university’s Academic Success Center team is making that priority its priority with the creation of the Academic Success Plan (ASP), a new application that gives students easier and quicker access to resources that will help them succeed in class.

Student Voting Rate Skyrockets in Recent Years

While student voting nationwide doubled since 2014, the С»ÆƬÊÓƵ student voting rate has increased 135% from 2014 to 2018, according to a recent report from the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement, conducted by the Institute for Democracy & Higher Education at Tufts University’s Tisch College of Civic Life.

Design Innovation (DI) Hub Launch Party

С»ÆƬÊÓƵ celebrated the launch of a dynamic new space, the Design Innovation (DI) Hub, in May that will bring innovations from many disciplines together in a 68,000 square foot building near the center of the Kent Campus.

С»ÆƬÊÓƵ alumna Pat Gless reflects on May 4, 1970, near what was then the ambulance bay of the old Ravenna hospital.

In the spring of 1970, two-time С»ÆƬÊÓƵ alumna and registered nurse Pat Gless was a junior in С»ÆƬÊÓƵ’s inaugural nursing program. While in class on Monday, May 4, a professor rushed into her classroom and warned students who could leave campus to do so. Fifty years later, Gless now reflects on the events surrounding that tragedy and how they have impacted her life and nursing career.

Ascendium Grant Will Streamline Transfers and Increase Retention, Graduation Rates

The pathway from a two-year college to С»ÆƬÊÓƵ will soon become an easier road to travel for Ohio students, thanks to a grant awarded to С»ÆƬÊÓƵ to collaborate with three Ohio community colleges to streamline the transfer process.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the С»ÆƬÊÓƵ fight song blared down Main Street, the city of Kent was flooded with blue and gold, alumni and friends gathered and reminisced about their С»ÆƬÊÓƵ days, fans packed the stadium to cheer on their beloved Golden Flashes and the entire campus boomed with С»ÆƬÊÓƵ pride.

Delta Propel

С»ÆƬÊÓƵ’s nationally ranked Flight Technology program, in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering, is one of only three nationwide that Delta Air Lines selected this year to become a Delta Propel Partner, a program that creates career opportunities for students studying to be future commercial pilots.
