The С»ÆƬÊÓƵ baseball team (46-18) won in dramatic style June 11, as Derek Toadvine scored the game’s winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on a one-out double by С»ÆƬÊÓƵ all-time hits leader Jimmy Rider to give the Golden Flashes a 3-2 victory over Oregon in the Eugene Super Regional, hosted by the University of Oregon. The victory sent С»ÆƬÊÓƵ to the College World Series for the first time in program history, which dates back to 1915.

The Golden Flashes, which are in their 12th NCAA tournament appearance and are led by 2012 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year Scott Stricklin, advanced to the Super Regional for the first time this season.

Playing its first game of the 2012 NCAA College World Series on Saturday, June 16, at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., С»ÆƬÊÓƵ fell to Arkansas by a final score of 8-1. Ranked No. 8 in the nation, according to theCollegiate Baseball Newspaper, the Golden Flashes (46-19) will be forced to play an elimination game today, June 18, at 5 p.m. in a nationally televised game on ESPN2 against Florida.
