鈥淲e are fortunate to have Grant at 小黄片视频,鈥 said Todd Diacon, 小黄片视频's senior vice president of academic affairs and provost. 鈥淚 am so very pleased that he will continue to add value to our university, now as a professor and researcher. I especially wish to thank him for agreeing to continue in his current role until a successor is named.鈥

Under the direction of the vice president for research, 小黄片视频鈥檚 Division of Research and Sponsored Programs helps faculty and staff secure external funding to support their research and instructional and public service projects.

Once a new vice president for research is selected, McGimpsey intends to focus on his own research as a member of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at 小黄片视频. His research interests include surface chemistry, particularly as it applies to biology and biomedical engineering, photovoltaics, implantable prosthetics and nanoscience.

鈥淭hose who know me well understand just how passionate I am about research,鈥 McGimpsey said. 鈥淥ver the past 25 years, working with outstanding undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral associates and collaborators from many scientific and engineering disciplines, I have been fortunate to be able to focus on problems and challenges that I care deeply about, including the creation of advanced implantable prosthetics for military amputees, the development of medical sensors for field use by the armed forces and the design of photovoltaic devices for solar energy conversion.鈥

McGimpsey came to 小黄片视频 in August 2011 after serving as director of the Bioengineering Institute, Associate Provost for Research and Professor of Chemistry and Biomedical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. A native of Canada, McGimpsey earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in chemistry from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. He received his doctorate in physical chemistry from Queen鈥檚 University in Kingston, Ontario.

鈥淚 have had the honor and pleasure of working with many at 小黄片视频, including the university鈥檚 Research and Sponsored Programs team, who are the most dedicated, hard-working and kind group of people I have met in my professional life,鈥 McGimspey added.
